……It was somewhere near the bottom of the bottle of Old Crow that the conversation turned violent. They say that nothing good comes from arguing with someone late night, and one thing I’ve learned is absolutely nothing good comes from arguing about personal opinions late night. Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to work on quite a few snowboard films, and one thing I’ve noticed when it comes to putting together a shred flick, nothing causes more arguments…more hurt feelings…more bad blood, than choosing music. Everyone has an opinion on what he or she likes. Everyone has a personal favorite song or band, and when people start to debate these certainties in ones life, things often turn ugly. I think however I may have found a close second to the music debate. I’ve noticed that to people who have been a part of snowboarding for quite sometime, or maybe haven’t been doing it for as long but are super into it, talking about snowboard videos and video parts often leads to crazy debates. Perhaps I’m just a nerd (however it has been and still is my job to kinda be a nerd on this topic so I don’t feel bad, I have to be, what’s your excuse) but I’ve been following snowboard films for as long as I’ve been snowboarding. I still try to buy almost every movie each year when they come out, and I constantly find myself shredding around to some song stuck in my head from an old video I’ve watched time and time again. Recently I engaged in a heated debate with someone over lists and more specifically “best video parts of all time” lists. To me it’s really really hard to choose a list of influential video parts, there are so many that stick out to me, and I also find my list evolving over the years. What makes a great video part, is it the song, is it the time it came out, is it the fact that you watch it over and over again, I’m not entirely sure, but all of these parts have something that others don’t. After debating this certain person for quite some time about our lists and also with the official beginning of summer and the reality that a lot of people that come to this site are going to be bored and looking for some snowboard porn, I decided to put down my list of best video parts of all time. I know that there are going to be tons of people that disagree with choices and lots of shit talking and hating, but so be it make your own damn list. These are the videos and video parts that have influenced me and have had a big impact on the snowboard movies that I have worked on. Also one more thing I didn’t put any skateboard video parts on this list. For me personally, Arto Saari's part in Sorry is my favorite part of all time for snowboarding or skateboarding, the way they put it together with Tom Penny’s part and the double song ending with Bowie is fucking sick, but I didn’t want to get into mixing the two so for this list it’s just snowboarding…….
